An effective safety culture is essential for any organization.
And so is OSHA & EPA compliance.
Not effectively managing safety will result in more injuries, and injuries cost you more than you may know! But when thinking about costs, something we don't always consider are the far-reaching effects of an OSHA Inspection.
Citations and fines are bad enough (it is very rare that an OSHA Inspection does not result in citations of some sort), but the real cost can come in the effect to your business reputation. OSHA loves to publicize their "victories" and will almost always prepare a press release to let the world know about the safety lapses in your company. How will your clients respond to a press release of this sort? It's doubtful that they will think more highly of your company.
So what triggers an OSHA Inspection? Some of the triggers are:
- A complaint from an employee.
- A serious accident (resulting in hospitalization or death).
- Being in a high-hazard industry.
To be prepared to survive an OSHA Inspection, one of the things you MUST have is a well-designed and implemented Safety Management System (SMS). And Summit Safety Technologies can hep you put an effective SMS in place. Email now to find out more: mike@SafetyProgramNow.com
Additionally, knowing what to expect and how to deal with an OSHA inspection is essential. Your managers and supervisors need to be prepared before OSHA comes knocking on the door.
One of our more popular webinars is "Tips on Surviving an OSHA Inspection". Summit Safety Technologies will develop and present this custom webinar for your organization for as little as $500. That's a lot less than the fines that would result from an OSHA Inspection if you and your managers are not properly prepared.
